Hayley "Emma" Chapman is a self-taught artist, whose childhood illnesses meant lots of time spent drawing & painting.
Her style is influenced by her interest in Flora and Fauna and the beauty created by the natural world. The love of natural things also extends to wool & the creation of rugs and wall hangings. Her style is also influenced by the 1870's designer William Morris.
My passion in life is Art and creating my rugs and designs - it's really all I have wanted to do. Due to my processing and memory issues following on from my brain surgery I have struggled to find the right fit in earning a living wage. In an attempt to make a career out of my passion, I put together packs of my work together with a handwritten letters and sent them out to a range of art professionals. This eventually led me to working with Fortnum & Mason who have worked with me throughout 2024 and finally launched my work in-store in January 2025.
I am hugely excited for this next step in my art journey! I am working on lots of exciting pieces & projects - there’s lots to come in 2025; including displays of my work and hopefully some events! We will be sharing and adding to my journey through my instagram (#emmachapmandesigns) and will be aiming to get an online shop selling my designs by the Summer.. Keep tuned!!
